Aeroseal Duct Sealing

Aeroseal seals leaks in your ductwork from the inside, without opening walls or ceilings. Leakage is measured before and after, so you see the result in numbers.

Why Duct Leaks Matter

Natural Resources Canada’s home energy guidance flags leaky ductwork as a common source of wasted heating and cooling, especially where ducts run through unheated spaces. Every leak is conditioned air escaping into walls, basements, attics or garages instead of reaching the rooms it was meant for – and dust from those spaces pulled back in through leaks on the return side. Most ductwork is hidden behind finished surfaces where it cannot be sealed by hand. Aeroseal works from the inside: the duct system is pressurized, a sealant is introduced as a fine mist, and the particles build up at the edges of each leak until it closes. Because sealed ducts hold whatever is already in them, they are best cleaned first – see air duct cleaning.

Signs Your Ducts Are Leaking

  • Rooms that are always too hot or too cold
  • Heating and cooling bills higher than the home suggests
  • Ductwork running through a garage, attic or crawlspace
  • Dust returning quickly after cleaning
  • Weak airflow at registers far from the furnace
  • A duct system that has never been tested for leakage

How Aeroseal Works

Sealing from the inside, verified by measurement.

  • Leakage measured before any sealing begins
  • Registers blocked and the furnace and coil isolated
  • Duct system pressurized and the sealant introduced
  • Leaks sealed from the inside as particles build up at their edges
  • Leakage measured again on completion
  • Before-and-after results provided

Common Questions

Do you need to open walls or ceilings?

No. Sealing happens from inside the ducts, which is the point – it reaches leaks in ductwork hidden behind finished walls and ceilings.

Should the ducts be cleaned first?

Yes. Sealing locks in whatever is inside the ducts, so cleaning first is recommended, and many customers book both together.

How do I know it worked?

Duct leakage is measured before sealing starts and again when it finishes. You get the before-and-after numbers rather than an estimate.

Is this the same as taping the ducts?

No. Tape and mastic only reach joints you can see and get to. Aeroseal reaches leaks throughout the system, including those behind drywall.
