Rooftop Unit Cleaning
Cleaning of packaged rooftop HVAC units for retail, office and industrial buildings across the Greater Toronto Area – coils, blower and drain pans, on the roof where they live.
Why Rooftop Units Need Cleaning
Rooftop units sit outside year-round, exposed to leaves, cottonwood, dust and anything the wind carries. Their condenser coils clog from the outside while their evaporator coils and blowers collect dust from the air inside the building. Both cut capacity and push energy use up, and a blocked drain pan on a rooftop unit can mean water in the ceiling below. Because these units often supply the building’s ductwork directly, they are commonly cleaned together with commercial duct cleaning.

Common Questions
When should rooftop units be cleaned?
Spring, before the cooling season, is the most common time. Sites with heavy cottonwood often add a check once it has finished shedding, and buildings with many units often schedule them in rotation.
Can you clean several units in one visit?
Yes. Units are shut down one at a time, so the rest of the building stays conditioned while the work is done.
Do you handle gas or refrigerant work on the unit?
No. Gas-fired heating sections need a TSSA-licensed gas technician and refrigerant work needs a certified refrigeration technician. We clean, and report anything that needs their attention.
What about makeup air units on the same roof?
Those can be cleaned on the same visit – see makeup air unit cleaning.
